Study Sites
A-BIG-NET will be collecting samples from India, Pakistan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam. The international collection will be coordinated by the Broad Institute, National Taiwan University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Johns Hopkins University.
India
Recruitment Numbers: 20,000 Total (10,000 cases, 10,000 controls)
The India collection will be led by National Institute of Mental Health And Neurosciences (NIMHANS), overseen by Dr. Biju Viswanath. He will be the key leader for Indian cohort, overseeing and coordinating participants recruitment across 12 sites in India.
Pakistan
Recruitment: 12,000 Total(10,000 Cases, 2,000Controls)
Dr. Knowles and Dr. Hassan have overseen and coordinated the Pakistan collection, shipping samples to the Broad for sequencing.
Singapore
Recruitment Numbers: 1,000 Total(500 Cases, 500 Controls)
Dr. Lee has 10+ years of experience in psychiatric research, and will be the lead overseeing and coordinating recruitment in Singapore.
South Korea
Recruitment Numbers: 6,000 Total(4,000 Cases, 2,000 Controls)
Dr. Lee has expertise in Bipolar disorders, mood disorders of early adulthood, chronobiology and sleep medicine. Dr. Baek's research interests are concentrated on finding genetic factors associated with Bipolar disorders.
Taiwan
Recruitment Numbers: 4,500 Total(3,000 Cases, 1,500 Controls)
Dr. Kuo and her team oversee the recruitment and training in Taiwan, including regional and central hospitals in the northern, central, southern and eastern region. The REDCap system is the data collection platform for A-BIG-NET, which is managed and developed by the Taiwan team.
Vietnam
Recruitment Numbers: 10,000 Total(5,000 Cases, 5,000 Controls)
Dr. Ta has spent 10+ years building the research network in Vietnam and has experience leading a clinical study to success in Vietnam. Dr. Ta will oversee the data collection quality and training process in Vietnam. Dr. Phi will be the main contact, communicating study updates to the team and coordinating recruitment and trainings.
